Before JV

Here is my Greco 1978 SE700 ST Large Headstock Early Sixties w/ OHSC.

From what I understand, these are hard to find ouside of Japan. I don't see very many searching the like of Ebay and other guitar websites. This one was made at Fujigen.
Serial # B784020 and in great shape the SE700 is finished in Nitro and is shown here with the OHSC, Warranty with date/serial,trem unit cover. According to the catalog, it is Alder or Sen. Maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard, medium C neck profile with 21 frets. Weight in at 7.10 lbs.

Bridge saddles are of solid one piece casting and not the vintage formed type. I don't understand the reason for doing the saddles this way I feel it is more expensive to do so.

The outside edge of the tobacco burst look to be black here, but it is actually a very rich deep reddish brown under brighter lighting.

The typical Greco Model label on the back of the headstock.

Above, the original case and papers, tools, trem arm and bridge cover. The key to the case is also included.

Here is the underside of the pickguard assembly, all original according to the original owner, see below for a closeup.

The volume control, made in Japan, is original but different than the tone controls. Look at the difference with the 2 tone controls next.

Tone controls with a "Yamato" green capacitor.

The 5-way switch is similar to the DM-50, however,it has an additional section (top part of the photo) for the spring mechanism.

'S' series pickups? These are tagged with the number 31276 and look to be the same pickups used in Spacey Sound model guitars. The number is just a stock number, a similar number appears on the underside of the pickguard.

The pickup routings, more squared off and typical for this guitar and possibly later versions. Route continues into the neck pocket.

A single letter 'Y' stamped in the neck pocket with no markings on the base of the neck itself.

The Allen wrench (Allen Key in the UK) truss rod adjuster is also like those found on early Tokais and later Fender Japan SQ Squier Telecasters; Various common parts were probably sourced by these companies from the same supplier in Japan (as with some JV parts).

S.T.C. - Made in Japan - P11 Trem Block, looks like an iron or alloy casting, need to research what the designations mean here.

Pickups are staggered pole type and still have lacquer coating on some of the pole ends.
